Skunk Odor in Spring Valley Home?
10/25/2021 (Permalink)
Skunks are native to San Diego County. There are two species that make Spring Valley their home. One is the spotted skunk, and the other is the more common striped skunk. Spotted skunks can be found in the Spring Valley’s more rural areas, while striped skunks prefer living in urban and suburban areas.
SERVPRO® of Spring Valley/Jamul’s technicians are certified by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC)to provide odor removal and deodorization services. Here are some tips for keeping skunks out of your yard from the San Diego County website:
- Keep your fences in good repair so the little creatures cannot enter your property easily
- Keep your landscaping tidy. Skunks like to do as little digging as possible, and if they do not find an abandoned burrow, they will nest in brush piles, hollow logs, and culverts.
- Close off potential entrances or openings under houses, garden and tool sheds, mobile homes, porches, or buildings by screening them or blocking them out. You can use ¼ inch mesh hardware cloth.
