Our experts across the country are your trusted professionals for every cleanup and disaster restoration need you will ever have. What you might not realize though is that we also handle odor removal services.
We all hope that we never deal with a disaster at our home or business. But when a storm, flood, mold or fire leaves your property damaged, you could be facing a costly and stressful recovery. And smell might be the last thing on your “to-deal with” list.
Every disaster comes with odors, though, and they can linger for a long time if they are not properly and promptly remediated. Even a home that appears completely clean can harbor hidden smells in places you may not have thought to check.
If you are constantly trying to track down strange smells in your home, call in the pros to seek them out and kick them out completely.
Odors result when tiny particles are released into the air from chemicals or gas. Once the source of smells is removed, our technicians will use deodorizers and various other products in a scientific mix in order to remove the odor altogether.
Some of the products we employ include:
Masking agents. Masking agents cover smells in order to make the environment more pleasant to work in for the rest of the restoration process.
Filtration agents. Agents with compounds that are highly absorptive are used on furniture and other building materials in order to suck smells out. These agents also trap odor particles in the air as they pass through a filter, effectively cleaning the air.
Disinfectants and sanitizers. These two chemicals are used throughout the restoration process in order to kill odor-causing bacteria and fungi. This stops smelly air particles at the source.
These are not the only products we will use to get rid of smells, but they are some of the most common ones employed during the recovery of your home.
The process our experts follow to remove odor has four main parts:
1. Remove the source. In order to get rid of smells, the source will need to be discovered and removed, as well as any affected debris that could have odor-causing residue on it.
2. Clean residue from surfaces. Once the odor source is removed, it is crucial to clean and deodorize surfaces thoroughly. Without this step, particles of the odor-causing residue will continue to be released into the air, creating unpleasant smells.
3. Recreate the odor-causing conditions. During this step we will use deodorizers the same way the issue was created in order to cover all the same surfaces. This means if your home has smoke damage and resulting odors, we will use “deodorizing smoke” to eliminate them.
4. Seal exposed surfaces. When you face a severe damage situation, it may be more cost effective and practical to use sealants to block odors rather than remove them.
Timing is crucial for effective odor removal. If you have a serious odor problem after an emergency situation strikes at your house, we are available to respond quickly and mitigate as much damage and costs as possible.
